ProHealth Aims to Open Austin Street Facility Around New Year

Site will be a walk-in facility that serves both adults and children.

A spokesman for ProHealth said the urgent care center is aiming to open its new branch on Austin Street around the beginning of the new year.

The facility, located at 71-53 Austin St. between Bareburger and Queens Nails and Spa, will serve both adults and children.

“We’re hoping for Jan. 1 or thereabouts,” ProHealth spokesman Robert Russo said of the center’s opening.

The center will treat patients for ear aches and infections, fever, flu, coughs, strep and sore throat, mild asthma, migraines, skin rashes, sprains and strains, minor cuts and lacerations, allergic reactions, minor fractions and dislocations, insect and animal bites and sexually transmitted diseases.

The ProHealth site, which formerly housed Alexandra boutique, was previously being considered for a chain pharmacy and an H&M store.

Construction on the facility is currently underway. ProHealth is expected to take up most of the building, but neither Russo nor Forest Hills Chamber of Commerce President Leslie Brown had further details on what might fill the remaining space.

The center will have on-site X-rays, EKG, labs and IV care. Most insurance plans will be accepted and no appointments will be necessary.

ProHealth is a physician group practice based out of Lake Success with facilities across Long Island.
