Crime at a Glance: Recovery Week

As May becomes June, crime numbers improve locally.

Things went very well for the 112 Precinct, covering Forest Hills and Rego Park, in their most recent crime numbers.

While the first half of the year has been, at times, challenging for the police in the area based on COMPSTAT reports, things were looking up in the most recent numbers.

Dig in below:

  • There were no robberies and no felonious assaults during the period covering the end of May and the beginning of June.
  • Two incidents of grand larceny reflect a 50 percent decrease over the same period as last year, and are helping to drive an overall five percent decrease year-over-year. That's good news for an area in which grand larcenies tend to be the biggest issues.
  • There were five burglaries during the most recent week, the same as occurred in 2012 during the same period.
  • Sadly, the precinct is still on track to shatter its total from last year, thanks to a burglary spree in the precinct earlier this year.
