A-Rod Meets with Family of Missing Rego Park Teen

Yankees third baseman agrees to join search for Avonte Oquendo, who has been missing since Oct. 4.

Yankees third baseman Alex Rodriguez met this past weekend with the family of an autistic Rego Park teenager who has been missing since early October, the New York Post reported.

A-Rod joined the family of Avonte Oquendo, 14, at Upper Manhattan’s La Marina restaurant on Sunday and vowed to help in the search for the youth, who was last seen leaving Long Island City’s Center Boulevard School on Oct. 4.

“I’m doing this because it comes to my heart,” Rodriguez told the Post. “This is a very serious situation. I have a lot of things I can do with my time. I thought, for me, this was something that was important.”
