112th Precinct Community Council to Hold Monthly Meeting on Nov. 20

Group will announce winners of its November contest and take collections for its backpack and suitcase drive.

The 112th Precinct Community Council will announce the winners of its November poster contest and collect for its ongoing suitcase and backpack drive during its monthly meeting this week.

The council will meet at 7:30 p.m. on Nov. 20 at the 112th Precinct, which is located at 68-40 Austin St. in Forest Hills.

Safety on the Internet will be a topic of discussion and 112th Capt. Thomas Conforti will answer questions on local crime statistics.

The council will announce the winners of its November poster, YouTube video and essay contest. The topic of the contest was Internet safety.

During the event, the council will also collect backpacks and suitcases for its holiday drive with the Rego Park Forest Hills Lions Club.

Heidi Chain, president of the community council, said this week’s meeting will be the only time that participants can donate the items because they currently have no other drop-off sites.

The backpacks and suitcases will go to foster children, who often have to use garbage bags when moving their possessions.

The council’s meeting will include light refreshments.
