Jazz at the Library, Blood Drive Highlight Week in Forest Hills

Also, the Queens Botanical Garden is holding its winter solstice and tree lighting.

Friday

The Queens Chamber of Commerce and Verizon will hold a talk on how to amplify your business through mobile technology. The event will take place at 8 p.m. at the Bulova Center, located at 75-20 Astoria Blvd. in Jackson Heights.

Saturday

The Forest Hills Library, located at 108-19 71st Ave., will hold a workshop at 11 a.m. that will explain the Affordable Care Act and what the new health care laws mean for Queens residents. There will be a question and answer session and a discussion on how to enroll. For more information, call 718-990-5197.

And, at 2:30 p.m., the library will host a performance that combines swing, ragtime and contemporary jazz and includes music by Oscar Peterson, Erroll Garner, Duke Ellington, Billy Taylor and Fats Waller.

Sunday

There will be a blood drive from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. in memory of Ludmila Herz at 66-05 108th St. in Forest Hills. All participants will be entered to win a pair of Super Bowl tickets. Donors must be at least 16 years of age.

The Queens Botanical Garden, located at 43-50 Main St. in Flushing, will hold its winter solstice and tree lighting at 12:30 p.m. The event will include a winter garden tour, crafts and live music.
