Koslowitz's Office Will Be an Operation Backpack Site

Initiative collects backpacks and school supplies for homeless children across the five boroughs.

Councilwoman Karen Koslowitz, D-Forest Hills, will take part in Operation Backpack for a third year by using her office as a drop-off location.

Since 2001, the Volunteers of America of Greater New York has been collecting new backpacks filled with grade-specific school supplies to children in the five boroughs who are homeless.

Last year, more than 13,500 backpacks were collected and distributed to 150 shelters in New York City. This year’s goal is to collect 15,000 backpacks.
