MTA Fastrack Upgrades to Affect M, R and E Service This Week

Work on the lines is expected to be completed by Friday morning.

M train service will end early between Essex Avenue and Forest Hills-71st Avenue this week to allow for work on the Metropolitan Transportation Authority’s Fastrack program.

The MTA work will affect overnight service into Queens on the M, R and E lines from Monday through Thursday.

M train service between Essex Street and 71st Avenue will end early. For alternate service, passengers may take the E, F or R trains between 9 p.m. and 11:59 p.m.

M train service will operate between Metropolitan Avenue and Essex Street. And the F trains will make all M stops between Delancey Street/Essex Street and 47th through 50th streets.

R trains will provide alternate service between Queens Plaza and 71st Avenue.

Additionally, there will be no service to the 36th Street, Steinway Street, 46th Street, Northern Boulevard and 65th Street stations between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m. for the next four nights.

The work is expected to wrap up Friday morning.

In the meantime, free shuttle buses will be provided as an alternative at the affected stations.
