Heat Advisory, Special Weather Statement In Effect

It's going to be a wild weather Wednesday.

The National Weather Service issued both a heat advisory and a special weather statement for Queens Wednesday, warning residents of high temperatures and likely thunderstorms in the afternoon.

The heat index in the area is likely to be between 100 and 104 degrees Wednesday, and a storm system that stretches from New England to the Midwest should arrive in the city between 2 p.m. and 4 p.m.

The NWS warns that winds could reach as high as 60 miles per hour, and that storms could produce large hail and lightning.
