Brownouts Hit Forest Hills

Con Edison reducing power in 18 Queens neighborhoods.

Con Edison has reduced voltage in Forest Hills and 17 other neighborhoods in Queens due to equipment problems.

Almost all of the affected neighborhoods were confined to the southeast Queens area, with Middle Village and Forest Hills as the exceptions to the rule.

In a press release, Con Edison said the following areas would be impacted by the reduction.

  • Glen Oaks
  • Floral Park
  • Bellerose
  • Queens Village
  • Bellaire
  • Holliswood
  • Hollis
  • St. Albans
  • Cambria Heights
  • Laurelton
  • Springfield Gardens
  • Jamaica
  • South Jamaica
  • Jamaica Hills
  • Glendale
  • Forest Hills
  • Forest Hills Gardens
  • Middle Village

The action has been taken to protect other equipment and maintain service while the problems are resolved, ConEd said.

Residents are being asked to conserve electricity by turning off non-essential devices such as TVs, computers, air conditioners, washers, dryers, and microwaves.

For further information or to report service interruptions, visit www.conEd.com or call 1-800-75-CONED (1-800-752-6633) from a portable device.
