Jets Dump Five, Including Bart Scott: Report

Team cut four defensive players, to clear more than $30 million in salary.

The New York Jets have done a little housecleaning, according to ESPN.com, releasing five players and clearing about $30 million worth salary.

The move puts the jets under the NFL's salary cap, with over $5 million in room to spare, ESPN reported.

Bart Scott, Calvin Pace, Jason Smith and Eric Smith were let go in the defensive fire sale, along with tight end Josh Baker, the report said.

Backup quarterback/creature from Greek mythology Tim Tebow remains a New York Jet for the time being, while head coach Rex Ryan ponders what to do about his quarterback situation.

The Jets are also still unsure of how to handle Darrelle Revis, the team's shutdown corner who spent part of last season with an ACL injury.
