Forest Hills High School Girls Basketball Stifles Queens High School of Teaching, 54-29

The Forest Hills High School girls basketball team took home a big win, thoroughly beating the Queens High School of Teaching 54-29.

The game got off to an even start, until the Rangers took control in the second period, outscoring the Tigers 17-7 in the second quarter. Once their defense took command, the team locked down and wouldn't let the Tigers get any easy scoring opportunities.

From there, Forest Hills never looked back.

Hero: Rangers Junior Forward Sharon Rios pulled in a strong 16 rebounds and scored 15 points in the dominating effort, and easily anchored a great deal of the scoring for her squad. Guard Pareese Hankerson managed 15 points and 10 rebounds of her own in the win.

Turning Point: After the first buzzer of the second quarter, the Rangers were off to the races, and never came close to surrendering their lead.

Bottom Line: With a strong defense complimenting Rios' and Hankerson's incredible offensive performance, the Tigers ended up outmatched and outplayed during the girls' third league game. It was a great opportunity for Forest Hills to show what it could do after a tough loss to Hillcrest earlier in the week.

Key Stat: Forest Hills' defense held down their opponents scoring to an incredible degree, and nowhere was that more evident than in the fact that the Tigers only managed four assists throughout the entire game. Without effective ball movement, Queens High School of Teaching was effectively stifled.
