FHHS Girls Basketball Rallies At John Adams, 43-42

Rangers stand up to big test from Spartans on the road.

Forest Hills High School girls basketball team survived a close call against John Adams on the road Thursday night, escaping with a victory in a 43-42 nailbiter.

Once again, strong individual performances helped lift the Rangers to a big win and sole possession of second place in the division on the season with several games left to go in the year.

Hero: For the second time in as many games, top honors go to Forest Hills point guard Jodi-Ann Humphrey. Humphrey was a one-woman machine Thursday night, forcing her way into the paint for 8 rebounds, picking up 4 assists and scoring a team high 14 points as a starter.

Turning Point: It took a shock to the system for the Rangers to get into the game in the second half. After being outscored by 11 points in the third quarter by the Spartans, the Rangers kicked their offense into high gear in the fourth, securing a come-from-behind win on the road to stay near the top of the division.

Bottom Line: Push came to shove for the Rangers on Thursday night. They got knocked back by a Spartans team that was quiet at first, but ultimately came up big to defend their territory. While Forest Hills was on their heels in the third quarter, they recovered in time to bring home a win.

Key Stat: Frances’ 14 rebounds, paired with 4 assists, were the unsung hero of the game. The forward’s dominance in the paint and on the boards helped her team with second chance points that proved to make all the difference in the late minutes of the game.
