The paper reported Tuesday that the stage is almost set for Queens to be the home for MLS's 20th franchise. Rumor has it the team could be named for the Cosmos, which took NYC by storm in the 70's with the legendary Pele as its biggest star
The new club could end up with a player of Pele's caliber, as well. David Beckham has reportedly been approached to play with the club and act as a team executive.
Sure, Beckham's best days on the pitch are long behind him, but it could be interesting to watch him help anchor a team in the world's most diverse county.
