It's been quite a fun year for Forest Hills sports, with everyone from the Mets to the local high school teams making a big impact in the area.

We've spent a lot of time over the last week looking back on the year in Forest Hills, and now it's time to take a look at some of the most interesting sports stories — and most fun events — from the sporting year in Forest Hills.

The Mets had plenty of trouble this year, both and . The biggest story of the year for the Mets, however, certainly came at the end of the year, when the team made its decision to hire Terry Collins as their new manager.

A team from the West Side Tennis Club took home a national title from Arizona earlier this year. It was the culmination of a year's worth of hard work and practice from everyone.

The Forest Hills High School girls soccer team made a trip to the playoffs after a stellar season, defeating Flushing in double overtime in the first round. While the Rangers went on to lose in the second round, it made for an exciting end to a stellar season.

The bowling team at Forest Hills High School sent two students to the city finals this year. With stellar performances in the Queens finals, these two Rangers did their school proud!

After earning a division title with a spectacular season, the Forest Hills High School girls volleyball team took to the court for a home playoff game, only to be upset two games to none in the first round.
