FREE DEMO - Kids Summer Program at GTOL

We've got a great dance and movement program for kids 3-7 yrs old in the month of August.

9:30am to 10am - Movement Adventure, 3-5 yrs

Singing and story paired with movement to develop fine and major motor skill. Using well love children song like twinkle twinkle little star and itzy bitzy spider the kids will stretch, act out and mimic. Each class the kids will go through a story themed obstacle course where they must walk on tip toes, jump over things, skip and gather items. We also play games like hokie pokie and Simon says to develop body recognition. Each class ends with a few rounds of freeze to burn up any energy they have left.

Suggested age 3-5 years old (based on your child's ability & interests)

 

11:30am to 12pm - Imagination Dance, 5-7 yrs

Students learn the basic of jazz with body isolations, ballet basics of leaps, pose, tendu, and chasse integrated with basic yoga to develop stretch and strength. Imagery is used to keep them engage and master the details each style.  An obstacle course is like the across the floor exercises in an adult class. It breaks down the movement while keeping their imagination engaged. They will learn a short routine combining all the movement s of that class. As a treat each class ends with freeze dance so they can just move.

Suggested age 5 -7 years old (based on your child's ability & interests)

 

Meet the Teacher

Blair Hotchner has a BA in Dance and Psychology from Hofstra University and is an internationally acredited Yoga instructor. She uses her 8 years of teaching experience at places like the world famous French woods Festival of the Performing Arts. Along with her knowledge of children's development and her understand of the body she creates simulating and captivating classes for children of all ages. Her classes are designed to develop verbal and motor skills as well as nourish their personal strengths to help them develop a strong sense of self.
