Doo-Wop Legends Band Together To Save Jamaica High

Area lawmakers — and JHS alums — introduce The Cleftones at a special performance at the embattled educational institution

Sen. Tony Avella, D-Bayside, joined two fellow lawmakers — and Jamaica High School alums — at a rally Sunday to protest the closure of the landmark Queens educational institution.

Assemblyman , D-Little Neck, and his brother, Councilman Mark Weprin, D-Oakland Gardens, attended the school, which boasts thousands of alumni who went on to careers in politics, science and the law.

The elected officials introduced The Cleftones, a Doo-Wop group whose original members formed in the hallways of Jamaica High.
