Parkway Hospital Will Be Auctioned Off: Report

Building to change hands June 28, website says.

The former site of Parkway Hospital, the Forest Hills private medical facility that was closed by state order in 2008, will be auctioned off June 28, according The Real Deal.

Any would-be owner who purchases the 56,000-square foot lot will also have to contend with a lien of more than $14 million, the website said.

The building is currently in foreclosure, and has been unoccupied since it was ordered to be shuttered by a state health commission.

Despite nearby Forest Hills Hospital, many in Queens fought to keep Parkway open, citing the already dwindling number of hospital beds in the borough.

The building's owner, Robert Aquino, was sentenced to prison time in 2012 for bribing state Sen. Carl Kruger $60,000 to keep the hospital open.
