Paper: Weiner Reported Fellow Rep. To FBI

Former Forest Hills Congressman Anthony Weiner told Roll Call, the Capitol Hill newspaper, that he reported fellow representative Michael Grimm, R-Staten Island, to the FBI for allegedly trying to extort campaign contributions from a New York rabbi.

Weiner told the paper that in the fall of 2010, Rabbi Yoshiyahu Yosef Pinto came to him with allegations that Grimm was trying to improperly trying to coerce Pinto into making campaign contributions.

Weiner lost his job less than a year later,

Grimm has been at the center of a number of campaign controversies himself recently.

Earlier this year, the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee urged Weiner’s replacement, U.S. Rep. Bob Turner, R-Forest Hills,

Grimm’s attorney’s flatly denied the allegations, Roll Call reported.
