Obama's Income Gap Fears 'Not Relevant' Locally: Turner [Video]

Is income inequality a problem in the neighborhood?

U.S. Rep. Bob Turner, R-Forest Hills, responded to President Barack Obama's State of the Union address Tuesday night.

A transcription of Turner's comments is below:

Turner: "I've said I'd like to see more of the details of what the President is saying, and not the political rhetoric. See what practical things that we could do to improve the economy, I think in the deregulation area, he would find — we would find — common ground on that, how to work together."

Turner: "Frankly, no. I think [it would] with some people, but for most people it's not relevant to their lives. Some people make a lot of money, some don't, but everybody looks for a fair tax structure. The high rate is 35 percent, if people find a way to find loopholes in that, we've got to find ways to close them."
