Turner Visits Forest Hills High School

Congressman talks to students in A.P. Government classes.

U.S. Rep. Bob Turner, R-Forest Hills, visited A.P. Government students at last week, fielding questions about his role in the House of Representatives.

“Debating on the Hill can be tough, but it’s nothing compared to these kids. They were well prepared, well spoken, and provided me a fresh perspective on the issues,” Turner said.

“It’s great to see so many kids working on an advanced track to understand the intricate workings of our government and take an interest in educating themselves to make the changes they wish to see.”

According to Turner’s office, students from the school’s third- and fourth-period class asked about a variety of current Congressional topics — including the controversial Stop Online Piracy Act.

“Our country has gone through some difficult times over the last few years and in order to reverse the current trend we have to make tough decisions,” Turner said to the 50 assembled students. “However, they have to be made in order to ensure that you are able to live the American dream.”
