Turner Stops By Forest Hills Veterans' Post

Congressman takes questions for the holidays.

U.S. Rep. Bob Turner, R-Forest Hills, stopped by the Kew Forest-Woodside-Irwin Loitz Post #250 to talk with veterans and discuss plans for the new year.

Turner talked about a number of pressing veterans issues, including the possible passage of the William Shemin Jewish World War I Veterans Act.

“Many Jewish soldiers have died or been wounded in combat. While many have been recognized for their service by being awarded combat medals, there are still many who served during World War I that have not been considered for the highest military decoration awarded by our government — the Medal of Honor,” Turner said.

The bill would prioritize cross-referencing Jewish service members who received military honors to see if they should have been awarded the Medal of Honor.
