With less than a week to go before primary day, U.S. Rep. Bob Turner has launched what he hopes will be a game-breaking salvo in the Republican primary contest.

Turner is competing against George Maragos and Wendy Long for a shot at taking on Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand for a Senate seat in November.

However, the same polls have also shown that he's got a long way to go if he hopes to compete with Gillibrand in the fall.
The robo-call features the former mayor praising Turner for his special election win last year, and pits him as the only conservative capable of taking on Gillibrand.
