Democratic mayoral candidate Bill Thompson skipped the last filing with the state Board of Elections for his still-active 2009 mayoral account and faces another fine in addition to a $1,052 penalty for missing the January 2013 filing, The New York Post reported.

“The committee was sued for the missing January report and assessed a civil penalty of $1,052.50, which is unpaid at this time,” said John Conklin, spokesman for the state Board of Elections. “Enforcement action for the July Periodic will not start until next week. If they make the filing before then, no action will be taken against the committee.”

Campaigns that are delinquent three consecutive times could be referred to law enforcement, Conklin said.
