The race between U.S. Rep. Anthony Weiner and conservative businessman Bob Turner finished with Weiner returning to office for the 13th year, though Turner mounted a solid challenge.

In eastern Queens, neither James Milano nor Elizabeth Berney could make a dent in U.S. Rep. Gary Ackerman, who kept his seat again this year.

Queens Republicans have to be disappointed with the result in state Sen. Dist. 15, where freshman senator Joe Addabbo Jr. retained his seat for the second time, fighting off former city councilman Anthony Como.

State Sen. Toby-Ann Stavisky, Democratic incumbent from Flushing, Forest Hills and Whitestone, made quick work of conservative Robert Schwartz.

Republican Alex Powietrzynski and Independent Joe Tiraco challenged Assemblyman Andrew Hevesi in District 28, covering Forest Hills and Middle Village. The race was tight for much of the night before Hevesi finally pulled away in the early morning hours on Wednesday.
