Should Forest Hills Have a 'Slow Zone?'

This week, Mayor Michael Bloomberg announced the expansion of the city's pilot "Slow Zone" program to 13 neighborhoods across New York.

The program, which started in the Bronx last year, has now been expanded to several nearby neighborhoods, including Corona, Elmhurst and Jackson Heights.

In an effort to stem the tide of traffic accidents in pedestrian-heavy areas, slow zones reduce the speed limit to 20 miles per hour, and on some streets, add speed humps.
