New York's Highest Court Overturns Five-Borough Taxi Plan Ruling

Court of Appeals rules in Bloomberg's favor.

A New York State court ruling that put the city's five-borough taxi plan on hold has been overturned by the state's Court of Appeals.

The ruling will allow for the sale of 2,000 medallions and the issuing of up to 18,000 hail licenses for livery drivers to operate in all five boroughs.

The yellow cab industry had sued to block the plan on the grounds that Mayor Michael Bloomberg's administration had not been approved by the City Council.
