More Firefighters Back Ulrich

After UFOA endorsement in August, GOP Councilman gets UFA nod.

Seems like City Councilman Eric Ulrich has locked up at least one voting block in Senate District 15: firefighters.

After getting an endorsement from the Uniformed Fire Officers Association during the Republican Primary, Ulrich collected the thumbs up from the Uniformed Firefighters Association on Tuesday.

"Eric will be a powerful voice in Albany on behalf of the men and women of the FDNY," said UFA President Stephen Cassidy in a statement. "His record of fighting for the middle class and working to make sure our firefighters have the resources to keep New York City safe is exactly what we need in the senate."

"I have enormous respect for the men and women of the FDNY and I'm honored to receive their endorsement," said Ulrich. "One of my top priorities in the Senate will be to make Queens more affordable to live and raise a family for our firefighters and all New Yorkers."

The UFA represents more than 8,000 firefighters in New York City.

Ulrich is running as the Republican challenger to state Sen. Joe Addabbo. His campaign will have to work overtime to pick up more endorsement's now that it's looking like Addabbo's war chest will get a teacher-funded booster shot.
