Hevesi Launching Year-Long Food Drive

Residents can drop off food at office until Dec. 2012.

Assemblyman Andrew Hevesi, D-Forest Hills, is launching a year-long food drive this week, encouraging local residents to drop food off at his Austin St. office.

“This food drive is a convenient opportunity for people to help aide local food banks all year long,” Hevesi said. “When you make a shopping trip to Austin Street, I encourage residents to stop by my office and donate some canned goods to the drive.”

, decided to make the food drive a year-round affair after hearing from a local constituent that many local food banks ran low on supplies outside the typical holiday season.

The food will be periodically distributed throughout the year to food banks that are in need of supplies, a representative of Hevesi’s office said.
