Hevesi, Koslowitz to Host Electronic Recycling Event

Participants will be able to drop off old computers, cell phones and other devices.

State Assemblyman Andrew Hevesi, D-Forest Hills, and Councilwoman Karen Koslowitz, D-Forest Hills, are co-hosting an electronic recycling event on Nov. 2.

The event will run from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the parking lot of Our Lady Queen of Martyrs, located at 110-06 Queens Blvd. in Forest Hills.

Participants can bring old electronic devices, such as computers, laptops, cell phones, chargers and calculators.

Hevesi said used computers, monitors and other electronic equipment that are improperly disposed of can potentially contaminate the environment and prematurely fill existing landfills.

Reusing consumer electronics conserves natural resources and avoids air and water pollution as well as greenhouse gas emissions that are caused by manufacturing virgin materials.
