Hevesi Gets Chair Of Assembly Oversight Committee

The state legislative session may be over, but Albany is still making news downstate, especially when it comes to the office of local Assemblyman Andrew Hevesi.

Earlier this week, Hevesi, (D-Forest Hills) was named the chairman of the Assembly’s Oversight, Analysis and Investigations Committee, he announced.

“Providing oversight of the state’s agencies and authorities is crucial to having an efficient and responsible government,” Hevesi said. “I look forward to working with Speaker Silver and my colleagues to ensure that all entities are acting efficiently, responsibly, and in compliance with the legislative intent under which they were created.”

The role of the committee is to investigate the state’s administering of all state laws to ensure maximum transparency and efficiency.

“Assemblyman Hevesi will have a key role in ensuring a responsible and

efficient government in New York. I know he will be a tremendous leader in this capacity and look forward to working closely with him to develop legislation and policies that will ensure our government is working as intended,” said Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver.
