Good Idea/Bad Idea? Paid Sick Leave Bill

Do you think businesses should guarantee their workers paid time off for illness?

Groups throughout the five boroughs are choosing sides over a bill that would guarantee paid sick leave for workers in the city. 

So far, however, Mayor Michael Bloomberg and City Council Speaker Christine Quinn have said the bill is a non-starter. 

The cause has gotten a push from names like noted feminist author Gloria Steinem, who told the New York Times the bill would hugely benefit women.

Some major to oppose the bill, pitting them against organizations like the Working Families Party.

The bill in question would compel businesses that had at least 20 employees to guarantee at least nine days of paid sick leave to each worker per year. Smaller businesses would have to provide a smaller number of paid days.
