Forest Hills Hospital Gets $450K in New Equipment

Borough President gives hospital grant for needed upgrades.

Forest Hills Hospital will be getting a financial boost from the borough president's office.

The hospital will be getting new surgical equipment and a green ambulance with solar-powered batteries, thanks to a grant of more than $400,000 from Borough President Helen Marshall.

"Funding for this equipment at the North Shore-LIJ hospitals is an investment in the future health of thousands of residents of Queens who use these facilities,” Marshall said in a statement.

Marshall has long been a champion of Queens' health care. Her voice is usually one of the loudest in opposition when a hospital closes.

City Councilwoman Karen Koslowitz, D-Forest Hills, said she was thrilled her local hospital was getting the equipment upgrades.

“I am pleased that capital funds from the Queens Delegation will go towards such important medical needs,” Koslowitz added.

The funding will help the hospital purchase a laparoscopic surgery tower, an ultrasound, an anesthesia workstation and an orthopedic fracture station.
