Flushing Meadow Lawn Parkers Rankle Council: Report

Drivers need to stop parking on Flushing Meadows Corona Park fields, park advocates say.

The New York City Council let the United States Tennis Association have an earful during a hearing this week, the New York Daily News reported.

According to the paper, during a hearing about the project to expand the USTA structures on the site — home of the U.S. Open — city council members said an important element of the plan needed to be a solution to drivers parking on Flushing Meadows Corona Park's fields.

During the open, thousands of drivers flock to the USTA stadiums, and when the parking lots are free, they are placed there.

But when Mets games are on at Citi Field, there's no pavement parking to be had.

For the USTA to expand, a solution needs to be found, said one parks advocate.
