Endorsement Round-Up: Earning Praise

Who's earning endorsements this week?

It's Tuesday, and that means it's time to take a look at all the endorsements in the upcoming primary in New York's Sixth Congressional District, which includes Forest Hills.

Assemblyman Rory Lancman

Lancman earned the endorsement of the New American Voters Association last week, a group dedicated to advancing the cause of immigrant communities in New York City.

“I’m thrilled to have the support of NAVA and leaders in the South Asian community in this race,” Lancman said. “As someone who has represented one of the most diverse Assembly districts in the state, my experience building coalitions and fighting for the rights of immigrants and New Americans will be invaluable in representing one of the most diverse Congressional districts in the country.”

City Councilwoman Elizabeth Crowley

Crowley got yet another public safety nod from the Uniformed Fire Officers Association last week.

“I’m proud to have the support of New York’s Bravest who are always our first line of defense when emergencies occur,” Crowley said. “New York is still a top terrorist target, and I will continue being a strong advocate who will fight for more federal funding it needs to be the preeminent fire department that it is and New Yorkers need it to be.”

Assemblywoman Grace Meng

Meng took out the trash last week, literally, when she picked up the endorsement of the Sanitation Officers Assocation.

"From everyday services to their efforts during snowstorms, I commend the men and women of the Sanitation Officers Association for their commitment to our city, and for their support of my campaign for Congress," Meng said.

In the race for the open Senate seat in New York a former Westchester Congress member made a pick as well.

U.S. Rep. Bob Turner

Turner got the nod from former Westchester Rep. Sue Kelly in his effort to earn the right to unseat Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand.

"Obama and Gillibrand are sending this nation off a cliff and I'm honored to have the support and friendship of Sue in my fight to bring down the nation's unsustainable debt, while implementing smart, pro-growth policies that will restore New York's jobs and its future," Turner said.
