City's Homeless Orgs Receive Boost from State
Eighteen New York City organizations will get a cut of the money, including two in Queens.
The State Office of Temporary and Disability Assistance has awarded more than $15.7 million to state homeless organizations – including eighteen New York City groups – to help combat homelessness, through the OTDA's Solutions to End Homelessness Program.
In Queens, Forest Hills' Queens Community House received a renewal of $438,668 and the Fortune Society of Queens got $160,000 (a full chart of the grants is below).
"STEHP is designed to reduce homelessness by providing prevention services to avoid shelter placements and rapid re-housing services for those who have already sought shelter," said OTDA Executive Deputy Commissioner Elizabeth Berlin.
