Mayor Michael Bloomberg casts a long shadow in New York City, but exactly how far does his influence go?
This month he's trying to stretch it across the Midwest to the south side of Chicago.
Bloomberg's Super Pac, Independence USA, has spent millions trying to prop up pro-gun-control candidates in the special election to replace Jesse Jackson Jr., who resigned earlier this year.
According to a report Tuesday in Capital New York, Illinois Gov. Pat Quinn thinks maybe the mayor should butt out.
Quinn was quoted saying people with money at their disposal shouldn't be allowed to frame the debate in what will be a very quick election.
Bloomberg, for his part, told reporters that he wouldn't have to spend money on outside races if Congress would enact sensible gun laws.
What do you think? Should Bloomberg should keep his money where his mayoralty is? Let us know in the comments.
