Beat The Heat At OEM Cooling Centers

City advises residents to use caution in Thursday's extreme heat.

The New York City Office of Emergency Management is advising the public to be careful in Thursday’s extreme heat. The heat index in parts of the city is expected to top 100 degrees.

The OEM has established cooling centers in various parts of the city, where residents who are overheated can take a break, drink water and call for medical attention, if necessary.

As well, emergency management officials are also telling residents to watch for signs of heat stroke or heat exhaustion, which can include:
