Queens Doctor Jumps Into NY-6 Race

Robert Mittman makes it onto the June 26 primary ballot.

Yet another Democrat entered the Sixth Congressional District primary this week when Bayside doctor Robert Mittman officially made it onto the ballot.

Mittman, whose office is located along Bell Blvd. in Bayside, will compete with state Assemblywoman , D-Flushing, state Assemblyman , D-Fresh Meadows, and Councilwoman Elizabeth Crowley, D-Middle Village, in the June 26 primary.

“I decided to run for the United States Congress because I believe that our government is no longer working in the best interest of the people,” Mittman said. “Something is wrong in Washington and as a lifelong community resident, a parent, a voter and medical doctor, I am here to offer a prescription for a healthy economy.”

Mittman said key issues in his campaign include improving the economy, halting wasteful government spending, and“moving health care reform in the right direction.”

“I am not a career politician like all of my opponents,” he said. “As a doctor, I have been trained to diagnose an illness and prescribe the proper treatment. I will apply these same techniques as a representative in Congress. My candidacy gives the voters in the Sixth Congressional District a real alternative to politics as usual.”

The new Congressional district will encompass Flushing and Forest Hills, as well as parts of Bayside, Kew Gardens and Elmhurst, among other neighborhoods.
