Teen Arrested on Charge of Interrupting All-Star Game: Queens DA

Long Island youth arraigned after allegedly running onto the field during Wednesday night's game.

A Long Island teenager was arrested after he is alleged to have run onto the field during the All-Star Game at Citi Field on Wednesday night, the Queens district attorney said.

Dylan McCue-Masone, 18, of Shirley, was arraigned before Queens Criminal Court Judge Donna Golia on charges of interfering with a professional sporting event and criminal trespass after he allegedly ran onto the field during last night’s All-Star Game, Queens DA Richard Brown.

The incident allegedly occurred after the defendant dared to run onto the field if he received 1,000 responses to a post on Twitter, the DA said.

“There is no such thing as being too careful, which is why my office and the operators of the various sports arenas in Queens County have zero tolerance for spectators who fail to conduct themselves responsibly at sporting events,” DA Brown said.

If convicted, the defendant could face up to a year in jail or a $1,000 fine and civil penalties of $5,000. McCue-Masone was released on his own recognizance and will return to court on Sept. 11.

According to the charges, the defendant ran onto the playing field between 9:10 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. while the All-Star game was in progress.

He was apprehended near second base by a Citi Field security guard.

DA Brown said the City Council passed the Interference with a Professional Sporting Event Law in 2003 after fashion designer Calvin Klein stepped out onto the basketball court at Madison Square Garden to speak with player Latrell Sprewell while a Knicks game was in progress.
