Rego Park Pharmacy Settles in Medicaid Fraud

Owner overbilled for use of ketamine in patient medications, will pay $100,000.

A pharmacy owner in Rego Park has settled with the state attorney general for $100,000 after overcharging Medicaid for doses of Ketamine.

The attorney general's office announced the settlement Wednesday, after Rego Park business owner Oleg Aronov, of Comprehensive Pharmacy.

Aronov, according to Attorney General Eric Schniderman, was overcharging Medicaid for use of the anesthetic ketamine in creams he was mixing.

Ketamine is listed as a schedule three substance. In Aronov's case, there was no suspicion that the drug was being sold for illicit purposes beyond the inflated Medicaid billing.

“Medical professionals who overbill Medicaid rob the program of important resources, and deprive many New Yorkers of essential services. This settlement holds Mr. Aronov accountable for profiting at the expense of taxpayers,” said Schneiderman. “My office will remain committed to returning any funds misspent through violations of the Medicaid program.”
