Queens Man Killed in Jamaica Estates Fire

Henry Schwan, 62, pronounced dead after early-morning blaze.

Police have identified the victim of an early-morning fire that ripped through a Jamaica Estates apartment building on Tuesday morning, police said.

Henry Schwan, 62, of Wexford Terrace, was pronounced dead at the scene after being discovered in his apartment by firefighters.

Queens firefighters responded to a 911 call at shortly before 5 a.m. Tuesday, and Emergency Medical Technicians found Schwan and could not revive him once the fire had been extinguished.

Another victim of the fire was taken to New York Hospital Queens and is in stable condition, according to information from the New York City Police Department.
