The incident, which occured Aug. 14, involved two men posing as utility workers to gain access to a Forest Hills home.

"Please be sure that you do not open the door to strangers," Chain wrote. "Two men rang the door and pretended to be utility workers. Do not open the door to check their ID's. Do not open the door to have a conversation. If you open the door at all, the perps can and will enter your home."

According to information from the police department, the two suspects in question pushed an elderly man into a rear room in his house and stole cash and a cell phone.

"There are two of them — they will enter and they will take your possessions. They may push you. They may hurt you," Chain warned. "Please make sure that everyone is aware. The perps have not been caught."

these people have come to our door quite a few times in the past couple of years. I live in an apartment building and they are quite pushy. They constantly talk (I never open the door) and will not let you get in a word....You can see that they are scammers. Just do not ever open you door to them.

A student of mine who lives in Manhattan reported to me (3-4 weeks ago) that the folks who came to his door (he also lives in an apartment building) claimed to work for Con Ed and that they were making a courtesy call to help him save money on his electric bill. They wanted enter his apartment to see past bills.

that what they were doing here too Rebecca. they have been doing this for more than a year now...some are older residents of foreign extraction and hope they don't open their doors to them...they are very persuasive. last time they were in the building was a couple of weeks ago too. I just told them through the door I wasn't interested. the finally went away...and on to the next apartment.
