Police Seeking Suspect In Mugging Spree

Perpetrator allegedly victimized 10 different women in three precincts.

in Forest Hills are looking for a suspect in connection with as many as 10 muggings, all of which have occurred over the last two weeks in the 109th, 110th and 112th Precincts.

Of the 10 incidents, six have occurred in the 112th Precinct, encompassing both Rego Park and Forest Hills.

According to police, during every incident, the suspect would approach a female victim travelling alone, then use force againt them and steal their purses or handbags in the hope of finding wallets, cash or credit cards. During some of the incidents, the victims of the muggings were punched before their personal property was stolen.

The victims, all female, range in age from 22 to 62 years of age.

The suspect is described as a Hispanic man between the ages of 30- and 35-years-old. He is approximately five-foot-nine with a thin build, curly hair and was seen wearing a black workout jacket with two red stripes on the front.

Anyone who has any information on any of the incidents is asked to call Crime Stoppers at (800) 577-TIPS (8477). Residents can also submit tips by logging onto the Crime Stoppers website at www.nypdcrimestoppers.com. They can also text their tips to CRIMES (274637), then enter TIP577. All calls and information will be kept confidential.
