NYPD Unveils New Electric Police Cars For NYC
Fully electric Chevy Volts added to fleet; will patrol Manhattan and Queens.
The NYPD announced on Monday that they have added 10 fully electric Chevy Volts to their fleet, making the boys in blue a little bit more green across the city.
The sedans, which require a power-charging station rather than running on unleaded gasoline, will patrol initially in Brooklyn and Manhattan.
Already, the NYPD uses more than 300 partially electric hybrid vehicles in their fleet, including the Nissan Altima hybrid and the Ford Fusion.
