NYPD Alert: Motorist Distraction Scam

A crime prevention and personal safety tip from the NYPD

The New York City Police Department is advising motorists of a grand larceny scam currently being reported.

The scam involves a tactic in which suspects distract victims by falsely informing them that their vehicle has a flat tire. 

While the victims inspect the purported damage, the perpetrator removes property from inside the vehicle.

Anyone with information regarding these incidents is asked to call NYPD Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477).
