Man Sentenced To 20 Years In Forest Hills Slaying: D.A.

Alexys Fermaintt, 34, stabbed, killed Forest Hills resident in June 2009 attack.

A Massachusetts man found guilty in a 2009 Forest Hills stabbing death was sentenced to 20 years in prison last week, District Attorney Richard Brown said.

Alexys Fermaintt, 34, of Holyoke, Massachusetts, to manslaughter in the stabbing death of Forest Hills resident Michael Pecora in June 2009.

“The sentence imposed today by the Court hopefully willprovide a measure of solace to the victim’s family by allowing them to know that justice has beenserved and that the person responsible for the brutal attack on their loved one will serve a lengthyprison sentence," Brown said.

According to evidence presented at trial, Fermaintt met Pecora online before meeting in person on June 17, 2009. There was a struggle in Pecora's 65th Avenue apartment, during which Fermaintt stabbed Pecora multiple times, killing him. 

Fermaintt then took the victim's wallet, cell phone and laptop before fleeing. He has been held since his arrest without bail.
