The 112 Precinct's most recent COMPSTAT report has been posted online. Here's a breakdown of some of the salient points in what has been a two-week period full of real concern for residents of Forest Hills and Rego Park.
- For the week ending on May 27, crime overall is down roughly 17 percent compared to last year, despite a small increase in the number of felony assaults and burglaries.
- Over the last month, however, the precinct has seen a sharp increase in felony assaults (eight this year compared to just three last year) and grand larcenies.
- The total number of grand larcenies in the month of May was 43, nearly double what it was during the same period last year (22).
The most high profile crimes of the last
City Council member Karen Koslowitz plans to pass out fliers in Forest Hills on Friday morning to raise awareness of the issue in the community.
