In Forest Hills: Night Out Against Crime

Come out tonight to support local law enforcement.

Looking to show your support for police and public safety officers in Forest Hills? Tonight's the night. 

August 7 is the National Night Out Against Crime, a coast-to-coast effort to support law enforcement on the local level, raising awareness of anti-drug and anti-gang initiatives.

U.S. Rep. Bob Turner, R-Forest Hills, praised the National Night Out as a vital outreach tool for police departments across the country.

“These events generate support for participation in local anti-crime programs, strengthen neighborhood spirit through police-community partnerships and send a message to criminals that neighborhoods are fighting back," Turner said. "I am proud to be able to do my part to help in this fight by working closely with Police Commissioner Kelly and fighting for more homeland security funding for New York City.”  

In Forest Hills, the 112 Precinct will be hosting an event in , as it did last summer.

There will be performances from local musical groups, awards presentations and free kosher food, according to Precinct Council President Heidi Chain.
