Gunshot Victim at LIRR Station Identified

MTA officials have released the identity of the

Emil Sladic, 60, a resident of Forest Hills, was found with a self-inflicted fatal gunshot wound around 4:45 p.m. on Tuesday afternoon.

He was on a bench on the westbound platform of the station, according to MTA officials.

Trains bypassed the station for more than two hours before returing to normal service, a spokesperson added.

Police said on Tuesday night that the incident was being investigated as a suicide.

It is the second time in less than two months that someone has killed themselves at or near the station.
