A Manhattan law firm is offering a reward for the safe return of a Rego Park youth who has been missing for a week.
Avonte Oquendo, 14, was last seen leaving Long Island City’s Center Boulevard School just after 12:30 p.m. on Oct. 4.
Law firm Mayerson & Associates has announced that it would pay $5,000 for the safe return of the boy, who is autistic and cannot communicate verbally.
The law firm almost exclusively represents individuals with autism.
“We cannot begin to imagine what Avonte’s family is going through,” the firm wrote in a statement. “Time is of the essence.”
Those with information about the missing boy can contact the firm by calling 212-265-7200. Mayerson & Associates is located at 330 West 38th St., Suite 600.
Oquendo is five-feet-three-inches and 125 pounds. He was last seen wearing a grey striped shirt, black jeans and black sneakers.
The boy’s family has filed a claim to sue the city and the school on the grounds that the youth was not properly supervised, 1010 Wins reported.
A vigil is being held tonight next to the Center Boulevard School.
